Hyperlite Mountain Gear 4400 Ice Pack

The 4400 Ice Pack is the largest mountaineering-specific pack in Hyperlite Mountain Gear's lineup covered here, at 72 liters and 1,177 grams — heavier in absolute terms than the smaller Ice Pack models, but at roughly 16.3 grams per liter it's actually more weight-efficient than the 40-liter 2400 Ice Pack, reflecting the diminishing weight penalty of scaling up Dyneema construction. It's built entirely from 150-denier Dyneema Composite Hybrid, the heavier-duty fabric used on high-wear panels in the smaller packs. Like the rest of the Ice Pack sub-line, it skips front and side pockets in favor of a clean shell, but adds dual ice axe pick pockets and load lifter straps — hardware suited to serious winter and alpine ascents where gear volume, not just weight, is the constraint. For expedition-length mountaineering and multi-day approaches requiring bulky technical gear, the 4400 Ice Pack's combination of capacity, removable hip belt, and reinforced fabric makes it a load-hauler first and an ultralight trekking pack second.
