The Junction 55 is Hyperlite Mountain Gear's mid-size ultralight backpack, built around 55 litres of main volume in a Dyneema Woven Composite 3.9 (DCF) shell with a Dyneema Hardline base for added abrasion resistance where the pack contacts the ground. At 866 g it sits in the weight class typical of DCF haulers, working out to roughly 15.7 g per litre — the trade-off buyers make for a fully seam-sealed, essentially waterproof shell instead of a coated nylon that needs a pack liner. Two removable aluminium stays and a dual-density hipbelt push the practical carrying limit to around 18 kg, enough for multi-day resupply carries or shoulder-season loads, while zippered Hardline hipbelt pockets and a roll-top main compartment keep the closure simple and reliable in bad weather. The 2025 revision adds redesigned shoulder straps, deeper side pockets and reworked hydration routing, addressing common complaints about older HMG packs. It suits thru-hikers and multi-day trekkers building a low base weight who are willing to pay a premium for DCF's stiffness and water resistance over cheaper, heavier alternatives.
