Kelty Eagle

The Kelty Eagle is a large tactical/mountaineering pack with a total capacity of 128.7 liters, made up of a 103-liter main body plus a 25.7-liter extension collar. It's the biggest and heaviest pack in this group — at 5000 g it works out to 38.9 g per liter, a ratio that points to expedition use rather than standard hiking. The build relies on aluminum stays and a contact-padded back panel, which sits closer to the back than mesh systems and handles very heavy loads better, at some cost to ventilation. The 500D + 1000D Nylon Kodra fabric is chosen for abrasion resistance suited to expedition and tactical use. An integrated rain cover is included, along with a removable lid pocket the manufacturer describes as convertible into a standalone fanny pack. The pack includes a chest strap, load-lifter straps, and a padded hip belt with pockets, plus hydration-reservoir compatibility. Given its volume and load capacity, it suits mountaineering expeditions and long multi-day treks carrying heavy loads, rather than light day hiking.
