Description
The Sea to Summit Frontier UL Pan measures 20.7 cm across (the 8-inch designation) and weighs 366 g, built from hard-anodised aluminium with a PFAS-free ceramic non-stick coating. At 56 mm deep it has enough capacity to double as a shallow pot for two-person meals, and it nests inside the matching 3 L Frontier pot for storage, keeping the overall cook kit compact.
The Click-Safe handle detaches and folds flat, which is what makes a pan this size viable for a backpacking kit rather than a strictly car-camping item — without a removable handle, a pan this diameter would pack awkwardly. Hard-anodised aluminium conducts heat quickly and evenly compared to plain aluminium or stainless steel, which suits frying and sautéing better than boiling-focused ultralight pots, at the cost of being heavier than a titanium equivalent.
At 366 g it is not an ultralight item on its own — it suits basecamp cooking, car-adjacent trips, or hikers who prioritise real cooking over freeze-dried meals and are willing to carry the extra weight for it.
