The Light My Fire Spork original BIO is a lightweight spoon-fork hybrid made from Ecozen, a corn-starch based bioplastic, rather than a petroleum-derived plastic or metal — an option for hikers who care about material origin as much as raw weight. At 17 cm and 12 g it is actually lighter than the brand's titanium Spork Titan (19 g), despite being a single moulded piece with no metal at all.
One end forms a spoon, the other a fork with a serrated edge that doubles as a knife for softer foods, so a single utensil covers three jobs. The material is safe against non-stick cookware, meaning it will not scratch a Teflon-coated pan or pot, and it is dishwasher safe for easy cleanup at home between trips. It is made in Sweden.
The weight saving over titanium comes with a trade-off in heat resistance and rigidity, since bioplastic is inherently softer than metal — a minor concession for typical trail cooking, offset by the lower price and the more sustainable material.
