Sea To Summit Head Net

The Sea to Summit Head Net is a lightweight polyester insect net built with an 80-hole-per-cm² hexagonal mesh, fine enough to block mosquitoes and most other flying insects. It weighs 24 g and packs into an included stuff sack small enough to disappear into a hip belt pocket. Black mesh is a deliberate choice over lighter colours: dark mesh close to the eyes reduces glare and improves visibility through the net compared to white or pale mesh, which tends to wash out in bright light. The net is designed to be worn over a brimmed hat rather than directly on bare skin — without a hat holding it away from the face, the mesh rests against the skin and insects can bite straight through the fabric where it makes contact. As a standalone item it only protects the head and neck, not the rest of the body, so on trips with heavy mosquito or midge pressure it is typically paired with permethrin-treated clothing or a full body net rather than relying on it alone.
