Description
The Swiss piranha is an ultralight tent peg made in Switzerland from recycled plastic, available in the BF90/BF120 sizing. At just 3 g and 9 cm long, it ranks among the lightest stakes on the market — for reference, a set of six to eight of these still weighs less than a single standard steel stake. The tip is a nail-pin style, and the peg is listed as universally compatible with most tents and tarps.
That low weight comes with a trade-off in ground versatility: the stake works reliably in grass and medium-firm ground but struggles in rocky or very hard terrain where a metal stake would hold better. For tarp users and ultralight shelter setups who pitch mostly on grassy or forest floor sites, it's a meaningful weight saving without much loss of function. On mountainous or rocky terrain, though, it's worth carrying a sturdier backup.
