NEMO Equipment Scalar

The Scalar is a multi-configuration tarp aimed at hunters, printed in First Lite's Cipher camouflage pattern rather than the bright colours typical of hiking shelters. One end can be closed off to give three-wall protection instead of an open lean-to, which matters for wind direction and concealment during a sit or glass session. It requires poles and guylines to pitch - neither is built in - but pole pockets are sized to take trekking poles, so you don't need to carry dedicated tent poles if you're already using trekking poles for the approach. Corner guyline pockets help anchor it in the field. As a tarp rather than a fully enclosed tent, it gives no floor and no bug protection, so it suits hunters prioritising camouflage and a low profile over a sealed, insect-proof shelter.
