Description
The Kelty Eclipse 35 drops the zip entirely in favour of a self-sealing foot vent, an oversized rectangular cut, and a hood, with synthetic insulation rated to a comfort temperature of 2°C. Losing the zip removes a common failure point and cold spot on synthetic bags, while the oversized shape trades pack size and weight (1690 g total) for room to move, shift position, or sleep in bulkier layers than a fitted mummy bag allows.
The self-sealing foot vent lets you dump heat by pushing a foot through it rather than unzipping the whole bag, useful on warmer nights within its range. At a 2°C comfort rating with synthetic fill, this is a three-season bag for car camping or basecamp use rather than backpacking, where the extra room and lack of a zip trade off against the weight and pack size of a mummy design suited to carrying on your back.
