The Western Mountaineering Apache GWS is a mummy bag rated to a -9°C (15°F) limit, with a separate -4°C comfort figure, using 482 g of RDS-certified 850+ fill power down inside a GORE Windstopper (Gore Infinium) shell. That membrane is the headline feature: it adds real wind and moisture resistance over a standard nylon shell, at the cost of some weight, bringing the total to 1,021 g. A differential cut, adjustable fitted hood, and insulated draft collar and draft tube handle the usual cold-weather sealing, and the bag can be coupled with a matching one to form a double sleeping system. This particular listing is the short-size version, fitting users up to about 167 cm. At around 113 g per degree of rating, it's less weight-efficient than WM's non-membrane bags at similar temperatures — the expected trade-off for the wind and moisture protection. It suits three-to-four-season alpine trips where wind and damp conditions are a real concern, more than fair-weather backpacking where a lighter, non-membrane bag would do just as well.
