Western Mountaineering Badger GWS

The Western Mountaineering Badger GWS is deliberately cut wider than a standard mummy taper, leaving room for layering or side sleeping at some cost to the weight efficiency of a narrower design. It's filled with 650 g of 850+ fill power goose down for a total weight of 1190 g, and the manufacturer-rated limit of -9°C puts it in the three-to-four-season bracket — cold nights, but not full winter conditions. The Gore Windstopper (Gore Infinium) shell adds a windproof, moisture-resistant membrane, useful mainly on exposed bivy sites or in well-ventilated shelters where wind drives more heat loss than direct rain. Continuous horizontal baffles, an insulated draft collar, a draft tube along the zipper, and a fitted, adjustable hood cut down on cold spots at a mummy bag's usual weak points. Packed to 43 × 20 cm (12.7 L), it's on the bulky side for its temperature rating, which makes it better suited to supported treks or short winter trips than ultralight thru-hiking.
