The Western Mountaineering Kodiak GWS is a four-season winter bag with a manufacturer-rated limit of -18°C. It's filled with 850 g of 850+ fill power goose down certified under the Responsible Down Standard (RDS), for a total weight of 1415 g — a solid ratio for a bag built around genuinely freezing conditions. The Gore Windstopper (Gore Infinium) shell adds a windproof, moisture-resistant membrane, which matters most on exposed sites where wind causes more heat loss than direct snowfall. Continuous baffles, an insulated draft collar, and a draft tube along the zipper limit heat loss at the usual weak points, though the bag can't be zipped to a matching partner to form a double. Packed to 46 × 23 cm, it's on the bulkier side for a winter bag — better suited to supported treks or trips where pack weight isn't the limiting factor. Sized for users up to 182 cm, unisex fit.
