The Western Mountaineering Ponderosa MF is a semi-rectangular bag rated to a -9°C limit, cut generously roomier than a tapered mummy — 170 cm at the shoulder and 163 cm at the hip. It carries 765 g of 850 fill-power goose down inside a 20D MicroLite XP shell with a DWR finish, using continuous baffles and a differential cut so the outer shell stays looser than the down-filled inner layer, avoiding compression at the seams. Full-length two-way zippers run down both sides, and the bag is coupleable, letting two Ponderosas zip together — practical for couples camping in cold conditions. A draft collar, draft tube, and fitted, contoured hood round out the cold-weather sealing. At 1163 g, it trades some of the weight efficiency of Western Mountaineering's narrower mummy bags for extra room and coupling flexibility, making it better suited to cold-weather car camping, hut trips, or shared winter sleep systems than solo minimalist backpacking. Regular sizing fits users up to 183 cm, packing to 43×20 cm.
