Therm-a-Rest RidgeRest® Classic

The RidgeRest Classic is a classic closed-cell foam (CCF) pad with no valve and no inflation required — built from durable polyethylene foam with a textured, dimpled surface that adds rigidity and reduces contact area with the ground. An R-value of 2 under ASTM F3340-18 is enough for spring through autumn but thin for freezing nights. In Regular size (183 × 51 cm, 1.6 cm thick) it weighs 400 g and rolls up to a 51 × 20 cm cylinder — bulkier than an inflatable pad, but essentially indestructible. With no valve or air chamber, there's nothing to puncture or slowly leak overnight, and the foam doubles as a pack cushion, a sit pad on breaks, or ground insulation when cooking. No stuff sack is included, since it's normally strapped to the outside of a pack. The manufacturer doesn't list recycled content for this material. It suits hikers who prioritize reliability and durability over minimal packed weight and volume, or anyone wanting backup or supplemental insulation under an inflatable pad.
