It adds a layer of impact protection for the metal body plus a bit of extra insulation on top of the flask's own vacuum walls, which matters if the flask rides loose in a side pocket or gets set down on rock. It is sold to match the 500, 750 and 900 ml FFX flask sizes, starting from 70 g depending on which size you pick. This is an accessory for people who already own or are buying the Mountain FFX specifically - it will not fit flasks from other ranges or other brands.
