The Granite Gear Perimeter 50 Men's stands out from most packs in the lineup through its back system: instead of a conventional internal frame, it uses tensioned mesh over a perimeter frame of spring steel, a design the brand notes was recognized by Outside Magazine as Gear of the Year. At 50 l for 1,400 g, that works out to 28 g per liter, placing it among classic (not ultralight) trekking packs.
The 100D/210D Robic nylon body holds up under load on multi-day routes, and two front plus two side pockets give quick access to frequently used items without opening the main compartment. The fully adjustable RE-FIT dual-density hip belt spreads weight onto the hips, and load lifters fine-tune the balance point on the back.
The main compartment opens via both the top lid and a roll-top, so the volume can be reduced as needed. The pack is hydration-reservoir ready but has no integrated rain cover.
