Hyperlite Mountain Gear 3400 Porter

Like its 2400 counterpart, the 3400 Porter drops external pockets entirely — no front or side storage — but scales up to 55 liters at 936 grams, built from a combination of standard Dyneema Composite Hybrid and the DCH 3.8 variant. It's rated for loads up to roughly 18 kg, and unlike the smaller Porter, this one adds load lifter straps to help manage that heavier carry. Two ice axe loops broaden its use beyond pure trekking into occasional mountaineering, while the removable aluminum stays let it flex between a supported carry for heavier loads and a lighter, frame-free setup when the trip doesn't demand it. The hip belt includes pockets, offsetting the lack of exterior storage elsewhere on the pack. At about 17 grams per liter — one of the more efficient figures in the 3400 series — the Porter fits trekkers and thru-hikers who want a clean, snag-free profile and are comfortable organizing gear inside the main compartment rather than in external pockets.
