At 91.4 cm tall, the 3400 Windrider is the tallest pack in the 3400 lineup, reaching its 55-liter total through a 41.6-liter main body and a 13.4-liter external extension. It weighs 882 grams — about 16 grams per liter, the lightest ratio among the 3400 packs covered here — using Dyneema Woven Composite 3.9 throughout.
Storage runs to three side pockets rather than a front pocket, a layout suited to long items like tent poles or a rolled sleeping pad, plus zippered hip belt pockets and hydration compatibility for on-the-move access to water. One ice axe loop and a rated 18 kg load capacity round out a spec sheet aimed at multi-day trekking, thru-hiking, and light mountaineering rather than technical routes.
Without load lifters, the pack transfers weight primarily through its aluminum stays and hip belt, which suits moderate loads well but means very heavy packing lists may feel less supported than on the load-lifter-equipped 3400 Porter.
