The Outdoor Vitals SHADOWLIGHT is an ultralight expedition pack built around carbon fiber frame stays, delivering a 49 L main compartment (expandable to roughly 64 L via the extension collar) at just 893 g — around 14 g per liter of capacity, among the lightest packs in its class without giving up a rigid carry system.
The body combines 100D Robic Nylon with 200D Spectra Ripstop, while the base steps up to tougher 210D Robic Nylon to handle abrasion from rock and scrub on multi-day treks. Three access points — top lid, front J-zip, and roll-top — make packing fast even in the dark. A removable, padded hip belt with pockets, two side pockets, two front pockets, and a pair of ice axe loops round out the feature set.
This is a pack for experienced ultralight hikers who already run a tight base weight and want a carbon-framed system without the weight penalty of a traditional internal frame. The trade-off is load capacity: carbon stays keep things stiff and light, but this isn't built to haul heavy expedition loads.
