The Platypus SoftBottle 1L is a collapsible nylon/PE film bottle holding 1 liter at just 29 g. The screw cap has a built-in loop, so the bottle can be clipped to a carabiner or pack strap — a practical carrying option that several other Platypus soft flasks skip. The 28 mm threaded neck is compatible with Sawyer squeeze filters as well as Platypus drink-tube kits. Unlike most soft flasks in this category, it's dishwasher-safe, which makes thorough cleaning between trips easier. The material is BPA-, BPS- and phthalate-free, and the bottle is made in the USA. Rolled up empty, it takes almost no pack space, and at under 30 g it's a solid pick for an ultralight kit, either replacing a heavier rigid bottle or complementing a filtration setup. The trade-off of film construction versus a hard bottle is fragility — sharp edges or freezing conditions can puncture the film or split a seam if handled carelessly.
