MSR WindBurner Group Stove System

The MSR WindBurner Group Stove System is a remote-canister gas stove built around a 2.5-litre heat-exchanger pot, designed for cooking for 2 to 4 people rather than solo use. It boils 1 litre of water in around 6 minutes and puts out 2100 W, with a pressure regulator that keeps performance steady as the canister empties or the temperature drops. Total weight is 603 g, heavier than a solo canister stove but reasonable for a system meant to feed a group from one pot. The remote-canister (hose) layout lets you run the stove inverted in cold weather for better fuel draw, and MSR rates its wind resistance as good even without a dedicated windscreen, thanks to the enclosed burner and heat-exchanger fins on the pot base. A full canister gives about 95 minutes of burn time, enough for several days of group meals between refills. It fits base camps, hut-to-hut trips and car camping where the extra weight and bulk of a 2.5-litre pot are outweighed by faster group cooking; solo hikers or fast-and-light trips are better served by a smaller, lighter system.
