The MSR PocketRocket Deluxe is a lightweight canister stove at 83 grams, distinguished from cheaper MSR models by its built-in pressure regulator, which keeps output steady as canister pressure drops or temperatures fall — conditions where unregulated burners lose noticeable power. Burner output is rated at 2,403 W, boiling 1 litre of water in roughly 3.3 minutes, with a burn time of about 60 minutes on a full canister. The burner itself is brass, with piezo ignition and a simmer control for fine adjustment rather than just on/off flame. The folding arms and compact body pack into the included carry bag. Wind resistance is rated good, though the stove still has no built-in windscreen, so a separate wind shield is worth carrying in genuinely exposed conditions. The combination of low weight, pressure regulation, and a use range spanning summer backpacking to mountaineering makes it a more versatile, dependable choice than simpler stoves like the MicroRocket, at the cost of a few extra grams.
