Description

The Tent Lab Deuce of Spades is an ultralight cathole trowel built from 7075-T6 aerospace-grade aluminum, chosen for stiffness rather than raw strength. At 17 g (0.60 oz) it's one of the lighter tools in its category, small enough to disappear in a hip-belt pocket yet still a genuine digging tool rather than a toy. The blade measures 17.3 cm long by 6.4 cm wide, narrow enough to punch through root mats and dry duff without much leverage. Its signature feature is the patented DirtSaw® tooth pattern, sharp enough to saw through roots, and its ability to work in either orientation — right-side up for scooping, or inverted for probing and prying compacted soil. For thru-hikers and other ultralight backpackers who treat every gram of consumable gear as overhead, a sub-20 g trowel removes one more line item from the pack list without giving up function. It won't move as much dirt per stroke as a wider camp trowel, but it gets a proper cathole dug with minimal weight penalty.
