TheTentLab DirtSaw Deuce 3 UL Trowel

The DirtSaw Deuce 3 UL Trowel scales up TheTentLab's aluminium cathole-digging line to a 27 g tool built from 7075-T6 aircraft-grade alloy, roughly 10 g heavier than the standard Deuce #2 in exchange for more digging capacity. The blade grows to 20.4 x 6.6 cm, wide enough to clear noticeably more soil per stroke than the smaller model. Serrated DirtSaw™ teeth run along both edges of the blade rather than just one, which the maker positions specifically for clay and compacted, hard-packed ground where a smooth edge tends to skate off the surface instead of biting in. The flat handle keeps the tool slim to pack, and it ships in orange, black, or green, which also makes it easier to spot if set down on the trail. There's no built-in depth marker. For backpackers who dig catholes in difficult terrain — clay-heavy trail corridors, root-choked forest floor — the extra width and weight over the Deuce #2 is a reasonable trade: still light enough for thru-hiking, but with meaningfully more bite per stroke.
