Description
This footprint is the tent-specific ground sheet for the Big Agnes Tiger Wall UL3, cut to the tent's own floor outline rather than a generic rectangle, so there is no excess fabric catching wind or collecting water at the edges. It is made from recycled 15D nylon ripstop finished with Big Agnes's HyperBead coating, the same PFAS-free waterproofing approach used across the brand's current footprint line, aimed at reducing the chemical footprint of durable water repellents without sacrificing abrasion resistance underfoot.
At 196 g it is a modest addition to total pack weight for a three-person shelter, and its core job is straightforward: shielding the tent floor from sharp gravel, roots, and ground moisture, which extends the working life of the more expensive tent body over repeated trips. Like the smaller UL2 version, it also enables Fast Fly setup — pitching the rainfly, poles, and footprint alone without the mesh inner tent — a useful option for trips where full bug protection or interior privacy is not the priority, such as fast group traverses in dry, low-insect conditions.
