The Enlightened Equipment Enigma 40 950 is an ultralight top quilt filled with 950-fill-power grey goose down, one of the highest fill powers EE offers. With 235 g of down it reaches a manufacturer-rated temperature around 4°C at a total weight of 380 g in the regular length (suited to users up to 183 cm). The trapezoidal footbox is sewn permanently closed rather than zippered, and there's no hood — both cut weight at the cost of flexibility.
Shell and liner are 10D nylon ripstop with a DWR finish; the down is RDS-certified and the quilt is made in the USA with a PFC-free treatment. Pad loops cinch it to a sleeping pad rather than insulating the compressed underside, the standard quilt approach to shedding dead weight.
It's a three-season piece for hikers who sleep warm or pair it with a solid pad, better suited to a settled summer sleep system than to variable conditions — the fixed footbox and missing hood leave little room to adjust for a colder-than-expected night.
