As a quilt rather than a full sleeping bag, it has no zipper and no hood — instead relying on a sewn trapezoidal footbox, an insulated draft yoke around the shoulders, and pad-attachment loops to stay in place and seal out drafts. That construction saves real weight compared with a mummy bag of similar fill, but it depends on a sleeping pad and careful setup to work well; quilts perform best when the footbox and draft yoke are snugged properly, and they give up some of the enclosed warmth a zippered mummy bag provides.
