The Western Mountaineering Kodiak MF is the Kodiak GWS's counterpart without the Gore Windstopper membrane — it shares the same -18°C rated limit and an almost identical 851 g of 850+ fill power goose down, but the simpler MicroLite XP (20D) shell brings total weight down to 1248 g, noticeably less than the GWS version.
Differential-cut, continuous baffles hold the down evenly across the panel, and an insulated draft collar plus a draft tube along the full-length zipper limit heat loss at the usual mummy-bag weak points. Unlike the Kodiak GWS, this version can be zipped to a matching partner to form a double, though it lacks an internal storage pocket.
Packed size stays at 46 × 23 cm, the same as the GWS version, so it remains a bulkier winter bag better suited to supported treks than lightweight backpacking. Sized for users up to 182 cm, unisex fit.
