The Western Mountaineering Monolite is a hoodless mummy bag built for pure summer weight-saving: 369 g total, with 192 g of 850 fill-power goose down inside a 10D nylon taffeta shell and matching liner. Dropping the hood removes weight but not warmth management entirely — it still carries a draft collar and draft tube, box baffles to hold the down in place, and a DWR finish that is PFC-free. Rated to a 3°C comfort / -3°C limit, this is strictly a warm-weather bag: the narrow mummy taper (59 cm shoulder, 39 cm foot) minimizes dead air space to squeeze out extra warmth per gram, and the half-length left-side zipper cuts more weight than a full zip at the cost of ventilation flexibility. It packs down to 25×13 cm. Handcrafted in the USA, it targets fastpackers, bikepackers, and adventure racers counting every gram in mild conditions, where a hood and full zipper would be dead weight rather than useful insulation. Regular sizing fits users up to 182 cm.
