The Western Mountaineering Sequoia GWS is a semi-rectangular winter bag with a manufacturer comfort rating of -10°C and a limit of -15°C, built around a GORE Windstopper 830 shell — a windproof, breathable membrane that adds real protection against convective heat loss in exposed winter conditions, something a plain nylon shell cannot offer. It carries 936 g of 850 fill-power goose down in continuous horizontal baffles inside a roomier semi-rectangular cut (168 cm shoulder, 155 cm hip) than Western Mountaineering's mummy bags, and the full-length two-way left-side zipper makes it coupleable with a matching bag. A draft collar, draft tube, and adjustable drawcord hood handle the remaining heat loss points. At 1646 g, it is one of the heavier bags in the range, and its roughly 110 g-per-degree figure reflects the cost of both the membrane shell and the roomier fit — deliberate trade-offs for winter mountaineering, hut-to-hut touring, or basecamp use where wind resistance and shared-sleeping flexibility matter more than minimal pack weight. Regular sizing fits users up to 182 cm, packing to 46×23 cm.
