The 20-denier polyester ripstop canopy with a DWR finish sheds water more effectively than the thinner travel-oriented fabric, and carbon ribs give the frame enough flex to hold its shape in moderate gusts. Unlike the standard wind rating on the Travel Umbrella 50, this model carries a wind-resistant rating, which in practice means less risk of the canopy inverting on exposed ridgelines or open terrain. There's no UV coating, so it's purely a rain umbrella rather than sun protection.
