Description

The Montbell Alpine Thermo Bottle is a vacuum-insulated flask built from SUS304/316 stainless steel with a copper-lined inner wall that slows heat loss. In the 500 ml size tested here it weighs 246 g, putting it in the mid-weight bracket for insulated bottles — Montbell also offers lighter 0.35 l and larger 0.9 l versions depending on what a trip calls for. Liquids stay above 78°C for six hours, enough to keep a thermos of coffee or tea hot from breakfast through a long morning on the trail. The screw cap doubles as a drinking cup, and the hexagonal inner closure can be opened even while wearing gloves — a detail that matters on cold-weather or alpine outings. A loop on the cap allows clipping to a pack. The bottle is BPA-free, food-grade certified, and leak-proof, but it is not designed for filtration or hydration-tube use — this is a dedicated hot-drink thermos rather than an everyday hiking bottle. Hikers chasing the lowest possible pack weight should look at Montbell's titanium version instead.
