Description

The 3400 Ice Pack scales Hyperlite Mountain Gear's mountaineering platform up to 55 liters at 981 grams, built from 50-denier Dyneema Composite Hybrid on the body with a tougher 150-denier version reinforcing the bottom. Like its smaller 2400 Ice Pack sibling, it carries no front or side pockets, keeping the exterior clean for climbing and roped travel, but adds two ice axe loops and a hip belt with pockets rather than the plain padded belt on the 2400 version. Listed for mountaineering and climbing specifically — not general trekking — it's a pack meant for gear-heavy technical objectives: ropes, hardware, and layers rather than the food and water carried on a standard thru-hike. The aluminum-stay frame and contact-padded back handle that denser load without the load lifter straps some heavier packs use. At roughly 18 grams per liter, it's efficient for its category, though the pocketless design means everything has to be managed inside the main roll-top compartment or lashed externally.
