Description

The Prism Pack is Hyperlite Mountain Gear's dedicated mountaineering and ice-climbing pack, built from a combination of Dyneema Composite Hybrid 150 and Dyneema Woven Composite 5.0 for extra abrasion resistance against crampons, axes and rock contact. Its 40-litre main body extends to roughly 55 litres via a 15-litre roll-top collar, and a top-lid closure — rather than the roll-top-only design common on HMG's trekking packs — makes it easier to access gear quickly with gloves on. Aluminium stays and a padded hip belt carry the load, while a single diamond-shaped tool pocket and two side pockets keep axes and crampons external and out of the main compartment. At 981 g it is heavier than HMG's ultralight trekking packs, reflecting the reinforced fabric and mountaineering-specific hardware rather than a thru-hiking build. Notably, it has no hydration compatibility and no integrated rain cover — details consistent with a pack designed for technical alpine days rather than long water-carry stretches. It suits climbers and mountaineers prioritising durability and quick tool access over minimum weight.
