Kelty Falcon 4000

The Kelty Falcon 4000 is a 65.5-liter military-spec pack (the name references roughly 4000 cubic inches of capacity) with an aluminum stay frame and MOLLE webbing for attaching add-on pouches. The 59.3-liter main body is supplemented by extra capacity up to a total of 65.5 liters. At 3100 g the pack comes to 47.3 g per liter — the highest weight-to-volume ratio in this batch among comparably sized packs, the trade-off for a rugged 500D/1000D nylon build and a contact-padded back panel instead of lighter mesh. That panel ventilates less but handles unevenly distributed heavy loads better. The pack includes an integrated rain cover, an ice-axe loop, and access to the main compartment via both the top lid and a front J-zip. Features include a chest strap, load-lifter straps, and a hip belt with pockets, plus hydration-reservoir compatibility. Given the weight and MOLLE system, this reads more as a pack for tactical or mountaineering use with heavy, varied loads than a lightweight hiking model for standard trekking.
