Matador ReFraction Packable Backpack

The Matador ReFraction is a frameless, packable daypack designed to compress down small enough to qualify as a personal item on flights while still offering 16 L of usable volume at just 225 g. The main fabric is 100D recycled nylon with a PFAS-free DWR coating, and water-resistant zippers protect the top-lid main compartment from light rain — practical for a bag meant to live in a jacket pocket until needed. At roughly 14.1 g per liter, it's built for packability rather than load-carrying: there's foam padding on the back panel but no adjustable back length, no padded or removable hip belt, and no load lifters. A single zippered front pocket and two stretch-mesh side pockets provide basic organization, and a chest strap adds stability, but there's no trekking pole attachment or compression straps — features aimed at dedicated hiking packs. Dimensioned at 43 x 25 x 19 cm, it suits day hiking, travel as an airline personal item, and urban commuting — a spare-capacity tool rather than a primary backpacking pack.
