Description

The Osprey Mutant 52 is a 52-litre mountaineering pack for multi-day alpine objectives, weighing 1542 g — about 29.7 g per litre. It's built from recycled NanoFly and robic 210D fabrics, bluesign certified and PFC/PFAS-free, so it avoids the fluorocarbon DWR treatments still common on technical packs. Dual ice tool locks and a reinforced A-frame ski carry cover mixed alpine and ski-mountaineering approaches, while a net/mesh helmet holder and a removable lid let you strip weight once technical gear is racked and you're moving fast higher on a route. It's hydration compatible for glacier crossings and long approach days. At 1542 g it's not an ultralight alpine pack, but the removable lid and the balance of ice-tool and ski-carry hardware make it a genuine multi-day mountaineering pack rather than a single-push climbing sack — suited to routes with a long approach, an overnight camp, and technical terrain above it, less so for fast single-day missions where every gram on your back counts.
