Description

The Osprey Mutant 38 is a 38-litre climbing pack (about 32.2 g per litre at 1225 g) tuned for vertical ice and multi-pitch routes, where a close-to-body fit matters more than raw capacity. Dual ice tool locks keep tools secure and out of the way during technical sections, and a removable Atilon framesheet lets you drop structure and weight once you're racking gear rather than hauling it. Like the larger Mutant, it's built from recycled 210D nylon, includes A-frame ski carry loops, a net/mesh helmet holder, hydration compatibility and a removable lid for stripping down mid-climb. At 38 litres this is a pack for a full day of technical climbing with room for some overnight gear, sized between single-pitch cragging packs and the larger multi-day packs in the Mutant range — but not built for extended expedition loads. The close-fitting profile that helps on technical terrain will feel tight if you try to overpack it for a longer trek.
