The Zpacks Arc Zip Ultra 62L differs from the rest of the Arc Haul line in one detail: alongside the roll-top, it has a full-length J-zip on the front panel for access to the main compartment without unpacking from the top. That convenience costs weight — 700 g is the highest among comparable Zpacks packs, though still well under a framed pack.
The 62 L capacity (47 L main plus 15 L extension) is carried on a curved carbon Arc Frame with an air-channel back system that holds the panel away from your body. The body is Ultra 100X (UHMWPE) fabric, closure backed by a front pocket, two side pockets, a chest strap, load lifters, and a padded hip belt with pockets.
The J-zip is most useful on trail when you frequently need something from the bottom — a tent, sleeping bag, or extra layers — without unpacking the roll-top. The trade-off is added weight and a more complex build with an extra zipper, a potential weak point next to the simpler bodies of the rest of the line.
