Description
The BioLite Luci Candle is an inflatable solar lantern with an amber LED tuned to mimic a candle flame, flicker mode included. It charges exclusively via its built-in solar panel - there's no USB port, so cloudy stretches need factoring into trip planning. Three modes (flicker, low, high) cover everything from atmospheric table lighting to more practical use inside a tent vestibule or pyramid shelter.
At 70 g it's among the lighter camp lanterns, and the inflatable body deflates flat for a pack footprint that's barely noticeable. IPX7 water resistance (submersible to 1 m) is more robust than most camp lights need, shrugging off a drop into a puddle or stream. Up to 28 hours of runtime per charge is respectable, though real-world results depend on how much sun the panel actually sees.
This reads as an ambiance light for camp rather than a headlamp substitute - for functional trail lighting, its sibling the Luci EMRG is the better pick.
