Description

The BioLite Luci EMRG is an inflatable solar lantern built primarily for emergency use rather than everyday camping. Of its five modes, several are dedicated to signaling and safety rather than lighting: strobe and SOS for getting attention, plus a steady red mode that preserves night vision and battery life. At 25 lm the white light is fine for close-range tasks, not for lighting terrain ahead. Runtime tops out at 7 hours on a full solar charge - noticeably less than the sibling Luci Candle, a trade-off for prioritizing emergency modes over long burn time. Charging is solar-only via the built-in panel; there's no USB port. Deflated, it packs down to just 4 cm and, at 79 g, barely registers in a first-aid kit or expedition pack. IPX7 water resistance (submersible to 1 m) matches what you'd want from emergency gear that has to work when it's wet. It makes sense as backup light for a dead headlamp or as an addition to a first-aid kit; as a primary light source for a multi-day trek, the short runtime is a real limitation.
