Description
The BioLite HeadLamp 200 is an ultralight rechargeable headlamp at 50 g, putting out up to 200 lumens with a 50 m beam distance. What sets it apart is construction: instead of a separate battery pod at the back, the electronics sit flat inside the fabric headband itself, which keeps the whole unit low-profile and stops the bouncing that a rear battery pack can cause when running or scrambling.
It charges via USB rather than swapping disposable batteries, runs up to 40 hours on a charge, and offers 4 modes including a red light setting for reading maps or moving around camp without ruining night vision or disturbing other campers. The light output covers spot, flood and red beam types, giving some flexibility between close-range camp tasks and longer-distance trail visibility.
At 200 lumens and 50 m throw, it's suited to camp chores, trail walking and casual night hiking rather than technical night navigation or fast trail running in the dark, where a brighter, longer-throw headlamp would serve better.
