Description
The Borah Gear 5.5'x9' Tarp is a flat rectangular silpoly tarp covering 4.6 m² and weighing 225.9 g - a simple, unshaped design that pitches in multiple configurations from A-frame to a half-closed shelter. Compared to silnylon, silpoly absorbs less water and stretches less when wet, so guylines stay taut through an all-night rain rather than needing re-tensioning.
Eight tie-out points allow flexible pitching based on terrain and weather, guylines ship included, and poles (trekking poles or dedicated ones) are sold separately. A 2000 mm waterproof rating is solid for a tarp, enough for ordinary rain given a proper pitch with adequate roof angle. A 2.74 m ridgeline length suits a comfortable stretch between two anchor points.
This is a 3-season option for solo hikers or pairs who prefer a more open, ventilated shelter over an enclosed tent and are comfortable with tarp pitching technique, including picking a suitable campsite.
