Description
The Copper Spur UL5 is Big Agnes's largest ultralight backpacking tent in this line, a freestanding 5-person dome built in HyperBead fabric at 3317 g packaged, roughly 663 g per person across its capacity — a genuinely light figure for a 5-person shelter. It carries a 3-season rating and is aimed at both backpacking and ultralight use.
Multiple gear pockets keep headlamps, phones and small items organised rather than loose on the floor with five people's kit in play, and the awning-style door and generous vestibule extend usable space for boots and packs without eating into the sleeping area. Freestanding construction means it pitches on rock or hard ground where stakes won't hold, though full vestibule performance still needs them staked out.
It suits groups of up to five splitting tent weight on multi-night 3-season trips, and is a poor fit for anyone hiking solo or in pairs who doesn't need the floor space, since 3317 g is a lot to carry for fewer occupants.
