Description

The Big Agnes Shield 2 is a lightweight four-season mountaineering tent for two, built with a single-wall design in ultralight 3-layer waterproof-breathable nylon with a microporous membrane — a construction that saves weight and pitch time over a double-wall tent by skipping the separate inner body and rainfly. At 2100 g packaged weight, it's light for a genuine four-season shelter, though single-wall designs are more prone to interior condensation than double-wall tents, a trade-off climbers generally accept for the weight savings on technical routes. A single door keeps the design simple and reduces weight further, though it means only one point of entry and exit for both occupants. This suits alpine climbers and mountaineers on technical routes where minimising pack weight matters as much as weather protection — for general three-season backpacking, a lighter double-wall tent would manage condensation better.
