The NEMO Aurora Highrise is a large, freestanding 6-person dome tent aimed at car camping and family use, not backpacking — at 8460 g packaged (7210 g minimum trail weight), no one would carry it far from the car. What that weight buys is standing-height livability: a 196 cm peak height lets most adults stand fully upright, and the 7.7 sq m floor area (about 83 sq ft) across four aluminum poles gives real room to move inside rather than just lie down.
Two doors and two vestibules add 4.38 sq m of covered entry storage, useful for keeping muddy boots and coolers out of the sleeping area. Weather protection is more modest than a backpacking tent's: the 68D polyester fly is PU-coated to 1200 mm and the 150D polyester floor to 1500 mm, ratings suited to fair-weather car camping rather than sustained heavy rain or high-alpine conditions. With floor area per person at about 1.28 sq m and total living space over 12 sq m for the group, it prioritizes shared space and easy setup over any kind of portability.
