The Katabatic Gear Alsek 22 900 is a three-season top quilt filled with 900-fill-power hydrophobic goose down, rated to the same 22°F (-6°C) comfort as its 850fp sibling. Total weight is 629 g with 400 g of fill; unlike the 850 version, built as a "short," this is the regular length for users up to 182 cm, which explains the slightly higher weight despite the better down. The build follows Katabatic's usual approach: continuous horizontal baffles, a trapezoidal footbox for foot room, and a Pertex Quantum Eco shell over a Pertex Quantum Taffeta liner, both DWR-treated. A stuff sack and a larger storage sack are both included, the latter useful for long-term loft retention — compressing down for months degrades warmth-to-weight performance. Packed volume is 6.5 litres, competitive for a three-season quilt. Made in the USA, it's aimed at thru-hikers who want proven materials over the cheaper 850fp option, at a modest weight penalty for the taller sizing.
