The Kelty Galactic 30 is a rectangular bag with 550-fill duck down (no hydrophobic treatment) and a manufacturer limit rating of -1°C — a camping-oriented design rather than a trekking one. The rectangular cut has no hood at all, trading thermal efficiency for room and comfort, which the low 0.8 warmth-to-weight ratio reflects.
At 1300 g total with 652 g of fill, it's standard weight for a rectangular bag. Both shell and liner are 50D polyester taffeta with a PFC-free DWR finish; a draft tube along the left-side two-way zipper partly compensates for the lack of a draft collar. The bag is coupleable with a matching unit to form a double, and its 193 cm internal length with a 193 cm maximum user height gives taller sleepers room. A stuff sack is included, packing down to 38 x 19 cm.
For weekend car camping or cabin use, the Galactic 30 is a practical choice thanks to its roominess and coupling option — but the weight and lack of a hood rule it out for lightweight multi-day trekking.
