The 3F UL Gear Poncho Tarp is a dual-purpose piece of kit that combines a rain poncho and an emergency shelter in a single sheet of 15D silnylon. A hood, side snap closures, and corner eyelets let you wear it as a poncho or pitch it between trekking poles and stakes as a minimalist tarp.
At 220 g it sits among the lighter items in the poncho/tarp category, and a 5,000 mm waterproof rating is solid for thin silnylon, enough to handle sustained rain. The 230×150 cm spread gives enough fabric to shelter a pack as well as a hiker, yet the whole thing packs down to 8×14 cm and barely registers in a backpack.
It suits ultralight backpackers and thru-hikers cutting weight by having one item do two jobs instead of a separate rain jacket and tarp. The trade-off is comfort: as rainwear it won't seal as well as a dedicated jacket, and as a shelter it offers less room and weather protection than a purpose-built tarp — more a backup option than a primary multi-day shelter.
