KS Ultralight Gear Tao Pack

The KS Ultralight Gear Tao Pack is a 28-litre frameless roll-top pack built in X-Pac VX03 fabric with a 330D Cordura base, weighing 377 g — a weight-per-litre figure of roughly 13.5 g, noticeably higher than KS Ultralight's own KS 3 model, reflecting its added features. Unlike the barebones KS 3, the Tao Pack adds load lifters and 3D-padded mesh shoulder straps, along with four torso-length options from 47 to 56 cm, giving it a closer, more adjustable fit for hikers who still want a frameless build. Storage is kept simple: one stretch-mesh front pocket, side loops for trekking poles, a daisy chain and elastic bungee for lashing extra gear externally, and no compression straps to shape the load. The hip belt is unpadded webbing but removable, and the denser padding on the shoulder straps compensates for that compared with the KS 3. It targets the same audience — multi-day thru-hikers on three-to-five-night trips — but trades a bit of the KS 3's minimalism for better load transfer and torso fit, without adding frame stays or back-panel ventilation.
